About Me

Welcome to The Workshop, I'm John Ryan
I have been building and disassembling things from a very young age, becoming familiar with their operational mechanisms and discovering how they work. I started with Legos and while I often use power tools and pursue making things, from the historic to the cutting edge, I still make time to build and design things with those same Legos that inspired me long ago. I'm currently a junior at Miami University studying mechanical engineering and aspire to bring this passion for design to the next generation of American machinery.
I created The Workshop to document the growth of my professional skills and show just how exciting it can be to work with your hands. Here, I will be sharing my journey and cataloging my projects, from ideation to completion. It's my hope that my experiences and insights will inspire and inform other engineers, makers, and DIY enthusiasts. In this blog, you'll find detailed explanations of my projects, along with photos to help illustrate and visualize. I'll also be sharing tips and tricks I've learned along the way, blending old world wisdom with modern techniques.
Join me on this adventure and let's explore the world of engineering together! If you have any feedback or questions, feel free to reach out to me through the contact page. Thank you for visiting The Workshop!
